“Lose Weight.”

It makes the top 10 New Year’s Resolutions list year after year, along with Get In Shape, and Save Money. However, …
“Lose” is not my idea of a good resolution.
I am never happy when I lose something.
I would rather “Gain.”

Gain a great eating plan and shed a few pounds (or at least look like I did) would be my New Year’s resolution. And I’m all for saving money while I set my new goals.

It seems like a great idea, but how?

Gain a great eating plan may include:

  •  Eating a Rainbow of foods. Each color of vegetable has different nutrients for you. So eat if you eat a rainbow of foods you probably will have consumed all your vitamins, minerals, fiber and stuff for your body to thrive.
  • Shop the outside of the grocery store for unprocessed fresh foods. Please note that high calorie foods are in the isles down the center. So choose wisely.
  •  Beware ofFructose, a sugar that saturates the American diet. It can trigger brain changes that may lead to overeating.” Associated Press SF Chronicle 1-02-13 & Dr. Robert Sherwin. A smart choice might be to limit High Fructose Corn Syrup and consume raw cane sugar in moderate amounts. Just a thought. Check the ingredient on the labels and you may be amazed by how much High Fructose Corn Syrup is in your favorite packaged food.

As you are experimenting with your eating habits, why not “Master the Art of Illusion Dressing” to make it look like you already have shed a few pounds? Here are a few tricks to help you look thinner:

  •  Is your tummy a little rounded? No problem! Just put a curve on a curve… Curve the bottom of your top, so that it creates a curved line over your tummy. It creates a pleasing visual flow.
  • Is your bust a little full? No Problem! Make sure that once your top clears your bust, it needs to cut back in to your waist. (If it stays full you look much heavier than you are).  A well fitted and shaped bra can do wonders as well.
  • Avoid baggy sweatshirts and in general clothes that are too big and those that are too small. To appear slimmer try “Column Dressing.” Wear a column of color from shoes to neckline. For example dark shoes, navy blue jeans with a navy cami (as the column) with a jacket of a different color.
  • Draw attention to your face with eye colored clothing. And be sure to keep a great attitude. A warm and inviting smile is still the best beauty secret.

  • It doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg to start your New Year~ New You Makeover: Clothing Swaps are my favorite way to encourage people to shed their unwanted or unflattering clothes and bring home new selections of items that work for them – for as little as $20. It’s why I host them three times a year. (If you don’t live nearby, consider getting together with friends, neighbors, and co-workers and host your own).

Stay the course, anything worth doing may take a little time. Losing weight and dressing well are a process. Your investment of time and effort will pay off. You will not only get a healthier lifestyle, but you will look good doing it.
