While sightseeing out in the country with my friend Debora, we stumbled upon a cute Victorian house that is home to EyeChicks luxury eyewear in the little town of Loomis, CA.
This is one of the best eyewear shops ever!
EyeChicks has endless possibilities in eyewear. Within minutes of being in the store, Sandy Fritz, one of the co-owners, had sized up our faces and started pointing out frames in shapes and colors that worked on both of us. The selection of European frames was dazzling and the boutique lives up to its tagline “Life is too short…To wear boring glasses!” There is truly something for every one.
Special features of this boutique include:
- If unique is what you seek–EyeChicks offers “capsule collections” of exclusive European luxury frames. Their focus is on designers who only specialize in eyewear and they do not carry eyewear created by fashion designers who opted to add a line of eyewear to their oeuvre.
- If your face is small and narrow you no longer need to look at children’s glasses to get frames in your size. Davette Fournier, the other co-owner of EyeChicks, has designed an impressive line of eyeglass frames that are made just for you.
- They also have glasses for wide faces too.
- With over 4o years of collective experience, Sandy and Davette are experts at selecting eyewear that matches their client’s facial features, lifestyle, taste and personality.
When you want to make a statement with your eyewear. Here are some guidelines for consideration:
Shape:
Choose glasses that harmonize with the shape of your face and brow.
Or– choose “statement glasses” that add decorative features not present in your face to add some bold style to your look.
Color:
Glasses need to harmonize with your coloring. You want your frames to have some similarities with your body design.
For example:
- Repeating your eye color in your frames brings people’s gaze to your eyes and you will more likely receive the positive feedback that you have such beautiful eyes.
- Repeating your hair color in your frames will make you look balanced.
- Repeating your best metal in your frames complements your skin coloring
Silver for cool skin tone people (people who can wear red/violet to violet well).
Gold for warm skin tone people (people who can wear orange, yellow or yellow/green well).
Copper for warm skin tone people with Autumn coloring.
Gold and Silver together for neutral skin tones (those who are neither warm nor cool). - If you choose a statement color for your frames–red, orange, yellow, purple, red violet etc. make sure that color is also represented in your wardrobe. Otherwise– you just purchased a pair of orphan glasses; they do not have any family in your closet; nothing to go with!
- Bling
The bling in your glasses should match your taste in jewelry.
If you sparkle with rhinestones, go ahead and add them to your eyewear.
If your jewelry glows–as in softly colored stones and pearls, your eyewear should have the same quality.
If rustic, ethnic, hammered metal is your style, be sure to include that on your glasses.
If your taste is for fine jewelry and elegant design, your glasses should match this level of refinement.
You do not want to have a disconnect between your personal style and that of your glasses. Continuity of message, design etc., is reassuring for people who see you. It’s what makes you look like you. The more money you have to spend on eyewear allows you to have more variety for expression. Just ask yourself how many pairs of glasses can you afford and then choose your strategy. If this is the one and only pair of frames, it has to hit most of your needs. If you can afford a few pairs of glasses, you may want to choose your favorite style but purchase the frames in three different colors. Or, you may choose similar color schemes in three different shapes.
Whatever your strategy, the EyeChicks can help you spend your money wisely!
