“I’ve got nothing to wear ~
No Really.”“Every woman goes through it: When you open a closet filled with clothes, nothing seems quite right. What influences this —- fashion, celebrities, our DNA? Should we just give in and go shopping? “ says Merle Ginsberg BAZAAR Sept. 2006.
You could go shopping and feed the hunger for something new. Shop to show up, “Ms. More-Forward-Forward-Thinking-Than-You-Are”. Shop to self-soothe. But what do you have at the end of the day? More than likely its more clothes in your closet …and you’re still not happy with what you have.
It is as true now as it was in 2006, that if you have not taken the time to find your style and what makes YOU look and feel good, you will continue have a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear.
My advice to you is to STOP looking over your shoulder, and take a moment to look inside. What you wear and how you present yourself comes from within. Stop comparing yourself to the stars. It may be part of their job to model the next new thing so you will think you need it too. But the latest fashion may or may not be right for you.
Take a First Step: Start a personal collection of things you love, objects, pictures, clothes and just things that you like for no particular reason. Allow yourself to choose from your heart. Then do a double check. Do I love it or do I want it because someone else influenced me?
Second Step: Describe the beauty, style and/or qualities in these objects that you love. Now here comes the trick; both you and the objects you like have similar qualities. Your shopping hunger will only be satisfied when these qualities are integrated into the clothes you buy.
