So now you know what you love and have words and pictures to prove it. You have a style you want to follow. And you still have lots of clothes and not all of it goes together. But it is getting better!
Next Step: Pretend you are planning a trip and can’t take the whole closet.
What’s your Plan?
The plan is to create a mix and match wardrobe out of the fewest amount of items, but with the most possibilities. You may not feel you have all the tools yet. But life is working with the tools you have and the desire to make something work.
(This is the final for my “Living in Color, Dressing in Style” Class. By this time we have created our style words, learned how to balance our proportions, found our silhouette, identified our best colors and developed our personal style in a class series.)
Start with where you have your passion in your closet. You may love shoes, jacket, pants or jewelry more than anything else. Pick your favorite thing that you love (and looks good on you), state your destination/activities and pack a small suitcase with mixing and matching in mind. Everything you bring must work well with your theme piece and the activities you have planned.
There is nothing that pulls a wardrobe together like packing for a trip. You will start to see what in your wardrobe plays well with others and what does not. Working wardrobes are about a team effort, everything pulls it weight and works for a common goal. A well packed suitcase is like a good movie, a few outstanding stars and many really good supporting actors.
