The sun on a brunette’s hair looks red. The sun on a redhead’s hair looks like Heaven on Earth.”
Feisty, Fiery and FUN! More and more women are opting to color their hair red. And when its done well the results are just fabulous! Elizabeth chose to color her hair the same color as her son’s. Everyone thinks she’s a natural redhead, and she is a redhead at heart. We had a lot of success finding some spectacular outfits to highlight her copper coloring.
The Challenge:
Because she colors her hair, her tone shifts from the first week to the last. Colors that look fabulous when her hair is freshly colored can be a little too orange by the last week of the coloring cycle. In her personal color analysis, closet and classes, we identified colors that look best with the ebb and flow of the fluctuations.
In this headshot, we selected a simple olive-brown top to accentuate the red of her hair without competing with it. This supportive color doesn’t attract much attention to itself, and allows us to focus on Elizabeth’s radiant face.
We had even more fun adding her eye color in a scarf, however the silkiness and draping of the scarf is not Elizabeth’s style. Despite the perfect color match, this was not her final pick from the photo shoot.
It’s a process:
Elizabeth and I are shopping to find just the right clothing to compliment her eye color and match her casual style preferences.
Photo Tip:
Take a professional photo at least once a year.
If you do not like the last one you took. Just Wait!
In a year it will start looking really good to you.
Use it then.”~Mary Lou
Experimentation and Perseverance:
Getting ready for a winning headshot is always a challenge. It takes practice and a willingness to experiment to make the most of the photo shoot. I am offering a PhotoReady Workshop on June 28, 2014, 1-4pm if you want to experiment finding the colors and styles that work best for you! We will focus on “skin tone” and “eye color” harmonies.
