The spring rains and warm weather produce a green like no other. The gift of spring came to me this year in a back yard filled with Miner’s Lettuce…just everywhere. This vivid and luxuriant carpet of tender greens communicates that green is the color of abundance. I have been making delicious Miner’s lettuce salad with my greens, and in the spirit of abundance, I want to share a recipe for Miner’s lettuce salad and some color insights on wearing this and other shades of green:
These fresh, bright greens can be worn by the very young or those people who are lit by sunlight…. (i.e. Springs). If your skin has warm undertones, this green may harmonize with you. But I would reserve it for a dramatic look or for sportswear. In the green spectrum, it is the shade that says “look at me!” and “don’t run me over on the road – safety green” so definitely save it for an occasion where you really want to be seen. It pairs nicely with a deep, dusty baby blue or hot pink for even more pop.
If you are like me, and have cool skin undertones, the miner’s lettuce green is better left on the salad plate, and a cooler green such as Pantone emerald, or a deep teal green will work in your clothing or accessories.
“Hemlock” is the Spring/Summer 2014 Pantone green for clothing. It is a softened version of verde green, often worn by Blondes with iridescent coloring (i.e. Summers).
Don’t look to the internet to find your best shade of green. Have a
personal color analysis to select the best palette including your green.
Just for fun….I found this on Pinterest…by Lime Pixel Studio.
And here is the promised recipe – bon Apetit!
